Ha! I do the same, though our stovetop toaster isnt as elegant as yours, just one of the old stamped tin rectangular models. Sure is Easy to Burn Toast; ime they Must be attended!
But homemade bread toasted with real butter and maybe strawberry jam is one of my fav things.

I have never been able to make good toast with a stovetop toaster. It is so easy to burn and by the time side 2 is toasted, side one is already cold. I just butter my bread and brown it on the griddle or a frying pan.

Maybe my ceramic cooktop helps since there is no flame. Mine came out great. I actually bought this a couple months ago, right before we discovered my inverter cables were too small, which is why it wouldn't run the electric toaster. But with winter coming and diminished solar power I want to be ready for backup toast. Also do the frying pan method if I'm cooking something else too, like grilled cheese.

I love bread. It's good thing I don't live near a bakery.

We have one of these camping toasters. Great for Garlic toast as well.
Works fast though, have to be careful not to burn.

I had really good luck toasting with a 2 prong weenie stick handheld over a flame; more uniform that the 'toaster' rig.

I've got 2 of them. One on the left I got back in the 80's. I got a new one to keep in the prep storage, in case the old one ever wears out. It will probably outlast me. Lol.

I’m not a fan of the type Paul has seemed it just dried out toast. The type dartnorth posted works so much better for me. But don’t try to multitask or you will have burnt toast.
But they toast quick so it doesn’t just slowly dry everything out

Yeah, great for making crouton toast, though if you go for the lightly toasted vs the deep golden brown it is better.
If all Im doing is toasting a sandwich bun or b-fast toast the stovetop model is fine, but if I have the li' Champ inv/gen set up/going for other stuff the 2-slot elec toaster is ready to rock.

This is fascinating:

Why a toaster from 1949 is still smarter than any sold today - The Verge

“ In 2019, the YouTube channel Technology Connections famously explained precisely why the antique Sunbeam Radiant is better than yours, and it might be the smartest thing you watch today.”
…

“ And like Technology Connections points out, you get toast regardless of whether your bread is room temperature, refrigerated, or frozen when you stick it into the device.”

We have a toaster like that. I will put a bed of embers together in the woodstove n place the toaster near. Sometimes put an ember on the metal pan under the toast.
Kinda nice watching you fire burn, have a cup of coffee from the percolator, english muffins with homemade current jelly
