What is the best instant water heater for off grid?

I've gone through 2 Camplux units. Both must have froze and burst inside. Even with draining.

We are 3+ seasons but use the cabin until there is too much snow to get in.

Mostly weekends and some weeks.

I'm fine draining the system every time we leave.

Thanks!

Many, maybe most on-demand heaters are very difficult to thoroughly drain to render them freeze proof. I use a small rv tank type. Propane. So do a few of my friends. Easy enough to drain.

RV antifreeze is the answer... but that means you need to pick a day and winterize. Then no more hot water until spring... Unless you are ok swallowing the costs of wasted antifreeze. It used to be super cheap, but not so much now!

Use a bit of compressed air to blow out the system if freezing is forecast. Much better than using the built-in drains. We have both an EZTankless and Ecco, have used for 10 years and never a frozen pipe issue.

My eccotemp L10 has been good. I winterize every fall by pulling the drain plug on the bottom and leaving it open all winter. Never had an issue. For the price, I'm not complaining about it, just keeps working.

I have had a iHeat brand for about 7yrs. I just pull the bottom drain plug and shake it around a bit. I would say theres a problem with the winterizing process if you have gone through 2 and both had the same freezing problem.
