When changing pages on the forum I get these full page ads. Also the common 1/3 page ads within a topic that you can scroll right past, but these require clicking off. Kind of a nuisance. This is on my Apple phone at the cabin, I don’t seem to get them on my home Windows desktop. I clicked on the ‘About Ads’ in the menu and it says about 10 different sources and reasons. Only seems to happen on this forum.

Anyone else been through this?

Ok not just me.. Couple items in that ad I posted made me wonder if I was being profiled: the hat holder, the back seat bed and that engine, whatever it is. Guess not lol.

Thanks guys

I can not tell you what the contents was, of any of the ads that popped up for me. I tune them out as soon as they appear. All I look for is how to close. Whatever the ad cost the advertiser was money thrown away.

Possibly. Online advertising is designed to target you specifically, and how they do that is with data captured by your web browser from other websites you visited prior to the current one (e.g. cookies). Not saying that happened with this site, but it could.....

Well that might explain the woman in tights, maybe the foot odor wraps, but I’m at a loss for that keychain thing.

The only ads I see on the front page are either banner or side page types, for some odd reason "girls in bikini's" and rarely something else appears... but when selecting a thread, there is always an ad that takes focus you have to get by that by closing it... Terribly annyoing.

I don't get where the Bikini Pics come from (although a pleasant distraction in mid-winter). I don't look at any dubious or sexy sites of any sort... well unless Solar PV Tech of Phys.Org or IEEE sites are "sexy-kini ?" Certainly none of the news sites like Guardian or Reuters do it either.

Normally pop-ups like that use some form of algorithm related to the interests & sites viewed, so I shoudl be seeing solar stuff, construction stuff batteries & electronics etc...

That reminds me, the Windows machine at the house does have an ad blocker. I only know because once in awhile a sight says “turn off your ad blocker to enter”.

Maybe Apple has such a thing. Don’t want to create more issues than solve, not that big a deal. I did get an ad for Ryobi tools yesterday, perhaps they are paying attention.😊

Another form I'm a member of the ads interrupt typing. So every time I type something I have to go back and fix it..I wont be a member there for much longer if it keeps going. Total pain in the ass.

Yeah the adds popping up when you are trying to participate is ridiculous. I just close the site n move on usually. And have just quit going to some sites. I realize that the folks who own or adminstate these sites want to make more money. But they are losing out and folks just leave them
