This fancy, expensive Honda generator has already crapped out on the 12 volt charging side.Just up and quite after a few hours of run time. And as for 13 hours on a gallon of gas,,,NOTTT.I'm so dissapointed.

I cant believe this! If I'm not mistaken you have a 24 month warranty on both the engine and the generator components. You haven't owned it this long, have you?

From my experience your generator failing that quickly is not typical of Honda's. I have 2- an EG3500 and an EU1000i. Both of them have been work horses, each with many hours of trouble-free service.

As asked above... what model do you have?

Buying good quality will minimize the chance of problems but it won't eliminate them completely. That's why it comes with a warranty.

My EU2000 has been going strong for 4 years now.

Is this a HONDA generator? or a HONDA-powered generator?

Our EU3000 is going on 5 years, not a hiccup. I would buy another today if I had to.

Our EU2000 Honda is going on eight years now. We only use it on the weekends but not one problem. It will even run a microwave if that is all your running.
I don't know about 13 hours a gallon but a tank of fuel will last the weekend anyway.

I just bought a Black Maxx generator from Sam's club. It's got the Homelite engine rather than the Honda. It is 4550 peak, 3650 running watts. Is supposed to run 11 hours on the 4 gallon tank.

Our first use of it we ran a 1500 watt space heater for AT LEAST 13 hours plus lights and charging cell phones and other stuff. Yesterday I was doing some work at the cabin putting up OSB on the inside and put 1½ gallons of gas in it. I ran the 1500 watt space heater and my saw and some battery chargers for at least 3 hours (possibly longer as I was turning it off some) and it still had about a half gallon of gas in it. I wanted to run it out of gas so I could store the thing but had to drain it instead.

Granted this thing is brand new, but I'm very happy with it.

I'm very interested in your report about the Black Max generator. I've been trying to find some reviews about it on the web. What was the main reason you purchased this generator? Recommendation, something you read, price? How much does it weigh?
