My neighbor just donated his hot tub to the cabin cause -- no pump or heater -- but I am just looking for a soaking tub anyway. Anyone have any experience with cood fired heaters Chofu seems to come up when googled --

google dutch tub its an alternative to the in the water type heaters. Lots of funny homemade versions on your tube.

I've seen pictures online where someone had coiled copper tubing that connected to the hot tub at two places below the water line, with the coil out a few feet over a fire pit. As the coil heats, the water slowly heats and circulates through the coil and into the tub, drawing in colder water. Heats up tub in about a half hour, no moving parts! An old hot tub would work fine for this, but would need to be drained seasonally. In summer, could be replenished via downspout.

I've been actually researching it for quite some time. It can totally be done without the need of a pump even and on wood. This is the guy who shows how to do it...

Although he calls himself a redneck he actually goes into some nice calculations of how much heat per size per speed and so on. I would have loved to make one in my future cabin but the only issue is that you need a lot of water and I don't want a well.
If you don't want to use a torch you can pipe copper pipe instead.
I will also insulate the hell of the tub to save on the amount of wood you need. Also, I will build a nice size fire brick stove for it to maximize the heat.

Oh and the 'redneck' uses propane and so but you can use wood... It will just take longer to heat, also unless you have a pump
