Lets play a little "what if". What if you could have your own little piece of property and cabin anywhere in North America, where would it be and why?

I could live any place in the world, and I chose the Kansas Flint Hills in which to build my cabin home.
The reasons are numerous, but some of them are: the people are friendly, the population sparse, the area is lovely to me and has four seasons, taxes are low, land was cheap, there are no regulations/permits, and I was able to create a niche for myself to make a living. And, if I ever do decide to do any more traveling, I'm right smack dab in the middle of the country; so nothing is too far away.

Okay, Martian you are very practical and Just, very sentimental. I am both of those things too but for the sake of "FUN" my answer would be something like this.....
My beach house would be on the coast of N.Carolina
My Lake house would be on the Keweenaw Peninsula in Michigans UP on the shores of Lake Superior for long walks and the northern lights 
My cabin would be right where it is but we would add a private lake with loons and a sunset to view. 
My mountain retreat would be in Montana or Wyoming-in the mountains of course-not too high of an elevation so that it is hard to breath 
My cottage would be in either Maine or Oregon not sure. Maybe one in each!
My Chalet would be in Colorado
My camp would be in the hills of Tennessee 
and my ranch would be in Texas- YeeHaw!
That is about it for now...none of these places are big and elaborate mind you, just simple places to get away to. I would sell my house and just hang out wherever I felt like it.....now that's the life!

Well, let's see, TB........HHMMMM?
I've lived on the coast of NC. It was nice. Sailed the Great Lakes. They were nice. Lived in DownEast Maine, camped in Wyoming, lived in the Seattle area, spent three months exploring Colorado, was stationed in TN, and grew up in Texas. They were all nice.
But, as the song says, "all my exes live in..........fill in the blank. That's why I live in KANSAS!"
However, your list is of some excellent places in which to spend some time.

Well Martian...I could certainly have a cabin in Kansas too- money seems to be no problem and after all, I lived there too. All your reasons are excellent. It could be my center point, the place I go home to in between all my other stops

Well I just bid on some land in a remote part of Alaska. Even this rural living is getting to crowded for me now. Keep your fingers and toes crossed for me!

Ok, I guess if you're gonna go with multiple cabins I guess there would be on up north for the summers and down south for the winters.

I have never been to Alaska but I just can't stop thinking about it. I am always looking at remote properties there and have a feeling I will buy a piece someday. I my never be able to get there but its something I can give to my boys. Alaska would be my dream cabin spot without a doubt. Brian

Maybe in the Panhandle. I don't remember good timber in the Anchorge area. I need timber and fish..........and deer....and peace and quiet.
