We have four, two minies and two large. My last daughter got me into it. She competed in dressage, but not now. I have brought them to the cabin a few years back. I'm thinkin' I should bring them for me and go exploring.

That's right owen.I ride Boog and michelle rides Smoke.I can't imagine owning horses and not ride.Were taking them up to the Adirondaks's in 3 weeks for a week of nothing but fun.Cold beer camp fire cooking,rideing the trails,taking afternoon naps.Going out to dinner,Playing the guitar around the camp fire.Good friends,Just relaxing and unwinding.Our once a year vacation.It's about 200 miles north east of us.If I were ever to hit the lottery,that's where I'd build a cabin.

I never had much use for horses, but now I might like a quieter mode than a motorcycle.

Yep they take some work for sure. I had one and loved it but they need to be rode and worked. Hightime does your name mean you work as a lineman??????

No I climb mountains with snowmobiles. It's been my handle on Mt. snowmobile sites.

Sorry for all the confusion. My puter screwed up and signed me out. On all other forums I'm Hightime. I had a devil of a time figuring out why I couldn't get back on. All's good now. Pay no attention to Hightime, he won't be back.

horse.oh dear.my experience with horses is not good.they are so pretty.
i use to take the bus to school in the south and there was a mansion and a golden palamino on the outside of the mansion on a knoll.it always seem to stand there so wonderfully.
then in ninth grade my boyfriend took me on horses around herman park.the horse bobbed up and down so much and never stopped for the whole trip.i felt like my brains were shaken loose.
then his saddle fell off and the horse went running down the center of houston.
then i rode back to get the helper guy.he ran after the horse.hmm.
the next time my son got on a horse at a friends and it shook him off and stepped on his leg.good thing this child had fallen in the mud so the horse did not hurt him.then my fil had tiny horses and a little stage coach.he put my boys on these little horses.they tried to rub the boys off by running them into the fence and trying to scrape the children off.my fil was hitting them and i thought...i am done with horses.then i see Eustace riding his horse.it looks so easy.ha.
i also had a friend who loved horses and got tossed off and had a hurt and banged up arm.soo?i guess its not for me...

oops.forgot one more..my step mom had a horse and it bit her in her cheek.she ran to get a gun to shoot it.my dad got the gun from her and then she went to get a lead pipe and beat the horse.but i love them...just leery.sure would be fun to have one.

Evertime you climb on top of one there is some risk. The thing with horses is to work with them all the time. Even on a good horse there can be the chance of a rodeo. I have been thee and done that. These big animals can be intimidating. They are fun to have and really the only way to go in high country.

Lol cabi, I got bucked off a horse once that decided to fight with another horse while on a trail ride. Dang...oooofda!
We have a number of horses down the street from us that are beautiful. From our house which sits up on a hill I can watch them. I like to see them running through the fields or "chatting" with the neighboring horses over the fence.

u sure would i see Eustace riding on his horse with ease and power and i see me up there trying.nope.If i had the kind of horses u are talking about rayyy-i would be a really happy person!and u would be rich.

My parents used to own standard bred race horses. They were MEAN! I didn't like horses too much after that. Our daughter was into riding for awhile (expensive hobby *S*) and she loved it. I've ridden a few times but I'm really nervous and I can hardly move the next day. *LOL* However, I think there is nothing more beautiful than seeing horses running together in a meadow. Daughter took her 18 month old son on his first "pony ride" a couple weeks ago and he was a natural. Just like his great-Papa!!

I spoke with my sister cause i know she likes to ride horses.
she told me u have to get a really well trained horse.
well i looked it up online and never knew the basics of riding a horse.i just thought u got on and off u went.somehow and somewhere.
anyway,when reading i found out if u wish the horse to turn left u pull the reins left and apply pressure with your own leg on the left side.oohhhh!! so there was all kinds of things i read that i need to know and do.

my daughter is moving with her boyfriend to Utah.the grandsons are going and they will have horses where they are moving to. a ten acre ranch...here is my daughter.shes gonna have a new life.whee...hope she becomes interested in horses.
one day i hope to have a picture from them with the boys on horses and her too.

My wife took in a gelded mini and a Shetland mare as rescue animals about 2 years ago. Unbeknown to us, the mare was pregnant and on St. Patrick's Day 2011 we became the proud foster parents of a now-gelded foal. We hope to have a few horses for riding when we finally retire to the ranch.

Owen...do you remember a few years back when the horse named "frostbite" was rescued and was being nursed back to health after being left out in frigid temps? It later died which was sooo sad. That rescue farm is by our cabin. Thank God there are people out there with big hearts and the knowledge and resources to be able to take in animals that need loving. Yes, thank you AYP1909..and I.hope everything is going well with your new cabin adventures!

I did't know it died. Sad.
I have a friend who took two, but he's not to good with training. He's been kicked and squished, several broken bones. Horses that have been neglected can use a good trainer. Most good trainers are busy with good horses.
