My cabin is in central Maine. There are very large spiders on the property, and now have found a few inside. Large meaning that the bodies are the size of a quarter. Any ideas on how to keep them out?

May want to try and identify them, some can be harmful and others not so.
They are there because there is food to be sure so I would do a good cleaning of the place top to bottom.

caulk windows and doors, add weather stripping around doors, check that vents have a fine screen on them.
first and foremost what Groingo said....our few spiders eat flies and not people, I'm happy to have them and just escort them outside if it's too many.

Thanks guys!!!! I've just read that moth balls may help. I would like to identify them though.......Maybe try to get a pic. and post it here for some help

I've read where the fruit from osage orange trees keep spiders away. So we put some in our basement last year and there were no spiders! Now I have to wait until fall to get some more to put in my outhouse.

Another possibility is the No Pest Strip. These work very well, but they are only supposed to be used when a cabin is unoccupied.

We have a few of these around the cabin....
I call them a tree spider...not sure what they really are called. This guy was about 1-1/2" across.
As long as they are on the outside of the cabin, we let them live.

We have some big wolf spiders in Ohio that make the hair on your neck stand up.
