The subject is probably so old that it's crusty. Reality TV and Youtube have probably turned off just about everybody to the idea of Sasquatch.

However, I do have a Bigfoot story myself, kind of, and I thought others who spend time in the woods might have a tale or two.

This happened about 10 years ago. My wife left our house before dawn to work out at the local Y. We live on about 9 acres surrounded by woods and fields.

She heard what she describes as someone screaming like they were being killed. She ran back into the house, woke me up and got a flashlight. Shining it in the direction of the woods showed nothing and the screams had long since stopped.

As luck would have it, we know a guy who has a hunting talk show on local radio. He invited us over to listen to recordings of different animal screams and calls so my wife could match what she heard to the right creature.

When none of the normal ones fit, he laughingly played a "Bigfoot" recording. You don't have to believe this, but she said that was exactly what she heard.

He went out with us to our woods a few days later. We found the strangest thing. There were branches and brush woven around about 5 trees in rough circle shapes. I later took out my eldest son and another buddy of mine to analyze if the branches and other debris could have fallen in a windstorm. All of us agreed that these structures appeared to be made by an intelligent hand. The weaving was just too involved to be random. Besides, there were other branches broken from a trees with the bark pulled downward as if by force. The structures clearly took time to build. I couldn't to this day imagine anyone in our back woods taking the time to build them as a hoax.

The hunting show guy said at the time that these are Bigfoot "nests" and it was a typically reported piece of "evidence".

That's my story. I don't really have any reason to invent it. After the nests deteriorated and vanished, we never saw anything like it again.

We live in NE Ohio. Any other stories or thoughts?

Yeah, I saw bigfoot. Sprained my ankle last summer, you should have seen how big it got.

Seriously, I'm in northern calif., and I've heard of various sightings, but really don't know what to make of them.

maybe one of your neighbors made a ground blind for deer hunting. If it was up in a cherry tree bears will create a nest . by pulling branches in and feeding on the fruit. Just a tangle of branches. old 243

Late one night as we were sleeping in our tent at our camp near the swamp we were awoken by a beaver slapping its tail repeatedly we than heard a awful scream. It sounded like a women in pain. Than it was dead quiet.

After doing some research we found that a couger can yell like that. Over the years there has been a rumor that there is a couger roaming around. That is rare for Northern Ontario. We think that is what we heard. Maybe your wife too.

My Mother saw a Bigfoot in Savannah, GA. She was walking home from the grocery store and saw BF walking toward and going into a swamp near her apartment. A motorist saw BF as well and stopped and asked my Mom if she saw the same thing. I guess he thought he was seeing things. My Mom only saw the back of BF. She said BF was about 6' tall, hairy, had a lumbering walk and most interesting of all the back of BF head was flat. I believed my Mom. She was not one to embellish.

Personally - No - however we do get asked that a lot so in a brochure we have in our motel rooms we have the following:

The first recorded sighting of a Sasquatch in the Coalmont area was in Princeton in 1974. The estimated height was 7 ½ feet and weight 500-600 lbs. It was long-legged with dark, brown hair. There was
thinner hair on its chest and face and it did not have much of a neck. The creature walked upright and had a slight odour. A second sighting was reported in 1985. A few months later, residents of Coalmont claimed Sasquatch was looking in their windows, and rocks were thrown at their cabins. Strange noises and footprints were also reported. First Nation's People refer to Sasquatch as the "Big Men of the Mountains" and say they have been there for 125 years. It is suggested the creature may have used the track bed between Coalmont and Princeton to travel and pick up goods transported along the route. The Sasquatch may have picked up meals through leaking or damaged railcars. It is also reported the creature visited the Princeton area for the gardens there and the deer kills in the fall.

Also, Susan Allison, who lived in the interior of British Columbia in the mid 1800's and died at the age of 91 in 1937 was friends with many of the local Indians. She wrote down the tales she heard them tell and one is called "The Big Men of The Mountains". It is about a native who was abducted by a "big man of the mountains" and held hostage by two of them until he could escape.

I often wonder that if they do exist why haven't they ever been tracked and cornered by dogs and hunters?

The county where our shack is was a hotspot for bigfoot sightings in the early 1980s. Then the local yahoos who were dressing up and playing bigfoot got caught.

Driving at night near Linville Gorge, NC circa 1985, came around bend, saw dark upright shape scurry off road into the woods. Asked girlfriend, "What was that?"

She replied, "What? I didn't see anything."

I replied, "I guess I didn't either..."

I can,t say that I have but I have fooled some friends on several trips to Sitka and Kodiak Island -Alaska.They had never seen a Big rear brown bear track(1000 lb bear leaves a nice track) and I would say to em it must be bigfoot but always fessed up and told em what it actually was.A friend of mine on Kodiak Island used to guide at some of the bear viewing places and he made a 12 inch long by about 6 inches wide tripled toed foot out of a 2x8 and screwed some shoes to them.He would walk around in the sand or mud before the guests were up and around and have a good time watching the people try to figure out what kind of track it was.He also had a gorilla suit he used to scare people with.A real jokester.Have a fantastic day!!

That big, hairy monkey dude was eating at my bird feeder again today. He loves black oil sunflower seeds and scares off all the Gold Finches. Let me tell you something, squirrels don't eat half of what Sasquatch does. I've had it. I really need to clean my Ruger.
