Hope this subject isn't a faux pas. I'm in the planning stages of our cabin. My wife and I have a small RV (too small to spend much time in) with working barhroom, water heater etc., and I'm wondering if anyone actually uses an old RV connected to their cabin for any reason. For example, our cabin will have a toilet but I was thinking of connecting it to the black water tank in the RV, as there is a dumping station about 5 miles from our land and it wouldn't be a problem to drive into town every few weeks. The water tank in the RV could also be topped off with fresh water at the same time as well as charging car batteries.

Just dreaming at this stage so sorry if I'm off base on this.

Don't see why it couldn't work. Might be a challenge getting enough fall from the cabin toilet to the RV unless you are in hilly country. Another issue you may run into is having enough pump to circulate water. Your RV pump was designed to run a small amount of plumbing.

I camp off grid in the summer - in a camper. We use a portable black / grey water tank to clean out the camper tank. It's a once a week job to drain the tank into the portable tank, haul it behind ATV about a mile to a dump station.

First time it was messy (meaning the hose popped off the fitting and raw sewage got all over in a matter of seconds) but I quickly learned how to 'do it right'. Now it's no big deal.
