We are re-doing our cabin inside and out. We enclosed the front porch area completely with a door and windows to make the interior bigger.
Now something is chewing at the doorway. I believe that the animals had a nice place to go and hang out for 18 years and now still want to get in.
I was hoping that they would eventually realize that getting back in was not an option (The door is steel) and stop. At that point I was going to replace the brick molding and all would be good.
But they are still chomping on it 7 months later. Tonight I just noticed that they have started to nip at my new siding by the door too. Now I'm mad and I want them gone.
Is there any repellent or something else I can put on or near the entrance that would make these gnaw hungry animals go away?

Mothballs? Maybe a mothball liquid spray? Urine from a predator (fox, coyote)? I know you can get a spray bottle of it. Just guesses.

Ha Ha! I thought I was manning up going to work every day to feed my family. You'd sit on your butt and watch for animals instead. Is that your advice macho man?

Google homemade bitter spray to keep dogs from chewing. Maybe that would work.

Yep...we had a red squirrel chewing on our place.. There's non toxic sprays u can use to repel them. . Good luck!!

When I was battleing red squirrels getting into my attic,I bought a bottle of fox urine from a hunting store.soaked a couple of paper towls in it,left them in the corners of the attic,the squirrels said FOX, I'M OUT-OH-HERE!

Thanks folks! I appreciate all (well...almost all) comments and suggestions. Sorry if I came off as "whiny", it wasn't my intent. I just spent lots of hard earned cash on re-siding my cabin and didn't want it ruined.
I'm an infantry Vietnam vet, so I know my way around firearms. However, I really have no desire to stalk and shoot an animal who is just doing what comes naturally. I spend time at the cabin to relax in quiet and get closer to nature. I don't pass judgment on anyone else doing whatever they want. I do what I want with my cabin time.
I am going the repellent route and would appreciate any other recipes and sources so I can find something to work.
Maybe when I get some extra $$ I'll buy a game camera. I bet there's a lot of stuff happening when I'm not there. That would be interesting.

Since we were doing foundation work there was a lot of mud after a rain. Apparently, from the tracks, these squatters are raccoons. I bought some coyote urine and some wicks at a hunting store. I have sprayed several times and see no additional damage.
Hoping this fixed up the problem. Thanks to all for your helpful suggestions.

Yeah, I read it attracts coyotes. See what happens when man tries to manipulate nature! We always screw things up.
