rmak- the toothpicks will have to be correctly engineered to handle the weight of jam applied. It's like snow load- greater the load, the stronger the rafters have to be. I prefer strawberry jam- but the real stuff is so lumpy that sometimes a whole strawberry lands splat in my lap. Cheap, Chinese made toothpicks will not stand up to this.
We need an International Standard for PB+J Sandwich Load Suspension and Support With Toothpicks.

hey sandyR. a tent has a lot to say for it. 
The property I bought, the guy who first planted all the trees and turned a field into a beautiful paradise. he built the wildest, craziest buildings. they served him well for his life.
when I came in. the main shack had been attacked by "animals" and wasn't salvageable. The rest was ramshackle and falling apart. so I hired a crew and they tore it all down and carted it away.
big deal.
i know some folks want to leave heirloom treasures to the generations that follow. but is there anything wrong with putting up a safe building with cheap materials and basic engineering in the expectation that a generation later the kids will want something else?
partikalarly for a small cabin lifestyle?
like SandyR points out. Better to be happy in a crappy cabin.
Now to get that toothpick outta my jaw. where'd i leave doz pliers.

You should cross post that in the PB&J thread. I believe some would enjoy it there.
The health food restaurant in a town nearby sells peanut butter and fruit roll ups for $9.00/each. I always felt that was a little extreme...
