...sed for powering big loads (maybe a blender). The portable battery runs everything else. At the end of the weekend, you bring it back home and plug it in to charge for next time. Many support a small solar panel to help carry them through the weekend. It really makes no financial sense as you burn about $150 in fuel a year. A portable battery solution is probably double that (...

... Under the siding is Tyvek and it seems to be in good shape. Would I be better off taking the siding off and replacing it with vertical boards and batten? I see what you mean about the roof mounted solar not being in the optimal position for efficiency. I'll look into a portable array. Do you have any recommendations for brands? I have a small renergy setup that...

Hi all. I just thought I’d share since there’s a lot of info about solar setups and it can be confusing. Here’s a very simple setup that we have that works great for us for our off grid lake cabin. Now this is...

Now the Job Jar is minimal; - Toolshed & its solar setup for it (24V/3000W). - Front Entry Porch. - Final Powerhouse Roof Mods and interior update. - Completing the Live Edge Cedar Siding on the Powerhouse to match t...

...g DC Wires is inefficient due to line losses (this is why AC dominates the world). As mentioned by gcrank1 Lead/AGM/FLA you can only use 50% of capacity or you are damaging them. Real Deep Cycle Solar Batteries are not cheap and motive batteries do not survive this kind of use yet some folks do so. Also RENOGY is a Marketing genius that sucks folks into buying their KRAP !     Hello, long time listener, first time caller. I have been pouring over all the wonderful information here and my head hurts trying to figure out what kind of solar setup I need. A little back ground. I bought some fairly heavy wooded land in Southern Oregon and want to build a 12x16 shabin with half of that space having a loft...

... and honestly that will probably we all we need this summer while I take time to wire, put in lights, dig trenches etc for the wires. We just had our fridge die which caused me to think lets move to solar but at the end of the day there is not a great area to setup the panels unless I built it etc and at some point I just want to enjoy the summer with our new born and...

WHY ? 2 years ago a Pro Installed Dual Tracking system was installed, each has 12 Panels and the house is still Grid Tied but is completely independent thanks to the solar & 48V/50kWh LFP (commercial) battery bank.. A point of Resale of Cabin/Home with solar systems. Anyone looking to buy a place does not want to fuss with things, They want Simple, Easy and no hassle to run with it.     ...If a meter is between that busbar & battery, then the meter will only read what goes in/out of that battery. The negative line beyond that busbar, the Inverter & SCC will tell you everything Solar In and Inverter out so you'll get the full picture. Of course, all this depends on how your system is setup and wired, where the fuses, breakers etc are.
