I repaired my buddy's shackle for his bush hog.
The little cracker box will weld with 5/32 6011 rods.

Thanks. I was surprised it burned the rods that well. The rods are pretty old. The flux gets funky once they absorb moisture.

I keep mine in capped pvc plumbing 'tubes' with some desiccant packs.
What did you have the buzz-box set at, 220v?

The rods were still in the plastic box they came in. But are well over a year old. (Well)
The welder they sent me is 110 only. It's the MMA130. Not the 140 dual voltage.
The amps actually go up to 134ish.
I ran those welds around 110 amps.

Darz, thanks for the follow up. My little pop can welder is loaded into my trailer, I did get some more rods for it, ie 6013 and smaller 7018.

This is exactly why I got it, little field repairs. Man, this is going to be handy.
So what was your buddys opinion on your 70 dollar welder? He toss one in his amazon cart too?

No prob TMT. I figured you would like to see how the little box did. I still can't believe it does that well.
I did show another buddy the pics. He's got a bunch of stuff that needs welds. I usually do his welding for him. He said if he gets one, it would be easier for me, so I wouldn't have to bring mine to his place. I laffed and told him my welding helmet, jacket and gloves weigh more than the welder. Lol
