I have a couple bikes at the grid locked with a thick chain and key lock. So far so good, touch wood, but twice now I have misplaced the key. And twice I have cut the chain in seconds with a carbide angle grinder.
Anything cut proof? I see online they sell hardened steel lock chain and locks with protection around the works. Work? Anyone been down this road?

As far as I know, there isn't anything that can withstand a cutoff wheel. Even AR500 can be easily cut with an abrasive wheel.
Battery grinders were game changers for the bad guys. A couple of arses used 2 of them to cut into a sea-can my father in law used for storage. They just cut a big square hole in the side and proceeded to steel everything.
Unfortunately locks just keep the honest thieves away. Anyone that is determined won't be stopped.

Yeah I guess so. Sure have been a benefit working around the property and cabin, use one frequently.
The bikes at the house are locked inside, easy enough entry by breaking a window. Do have a motion camera outside, mostly photos of the Amazon guy. But any intruder photo would have to wait for cell delivery and me to notice it, call the cops…
Thanks guys. Maybe the snake warning…

An interesting aside. I attend an online police auction once a month. They sell items that were confiscated during the commission of a crime. Sometimes its the actual stolen property that owners didn't want back, but more often than not its tools/items used by the bad guys.
Every auction there is at least 5 battery operated grinders and battery operated recip saws (sometimes more than 5). The grinders are used for locks, the recip saws are used to cut out catalytic converters.
Other interesting items. 1. Baseball bats (used for bashing door handles, among other uses). 2. Sledge hammers (again bashing). 3. Skateboards (get away device) 4. Bicycles (more getaway). 5. Mini crossbows (scary stuff). 6. Pry/Crow bars (prying doors open). 7. Axes (bashing/cutting handles or hinges). 8. Drills (drilling out locks) 9. A unicycle (LOL, who is getting away on a unicycle)
Anyway. You need to just do the best you can and not be the low hanging fruit. Behind a locked door with bike locks is pretty solid.

A thief in a Bozo costume, assuming he could juggle all that stuff.
