Hi,
First post here I think. Discovered I already had an account but I don't remember using this site before!

I have an MPPT ML2430 charge controller. I replaced my flooded batteries with AGM sealed batteries recently. When I go to the "battery type" page on my charge controller my options are User/flooded/Sealed/Gel/Li. Do I just select "Sealed" and be done with it?

When I google agm batteries it says they need different charging parameters than regular lead acid batteries. But agm isn't an option on my controller.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Oops. I realize now I posted this in the wrong forum. Not sure if a moderator could move it for me.
Sorry.

"Sealed" are different than AGM. Since you controller supports USER as a setting I would use that. Go get the spec sheet from the battery manufacturer and use the values they suggest.

Otherwise you risk killing your nice new batteries.

I have 3 marathon m12v155ft batteries (were free from a telecom station that was changing them out).

I know very little about batteries or electricity in general. Just enough to hook things up without shorting it out or shocking myself.

I know that my charge controller allows me to adjust the following parameters in User Mode. Found this info on page 18 of the manual https://www.srnesolar.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/MPPT-Solar-Charge-Controller-ML2 420-Instructions-1.pdf

-Over-voltage cut-off voltage
-Equalizing voltage
-Boost voltage
-Floating charging voltage
-Boost return voltage
-Low-voltage cut-off return voltage
-Under-voltage warning voltage
-Low-voltage cut-off voltage
-Discharging limit voltage
-Over-discharge time delay
-Equalizing charging duration
-Equalizing charging interval
-Boost charging duration

I amhaving a hard time finding what I should be setting these parameters at. I found a data sheet on my batteries here https://data.accu-24.de/Exide/Marathon_M_FT/8008373/Datenblatt_Exide_Marathon_M12V155 FT_Accu_en.pdf
and I found another article that said that these marathon agm batteries are similar to the "average" agm battery. But I can't find info on what to set my charge controller to. I just don't know enough about the different types of batteries.
Help please?

Well, I know Nothing specifically about those batteries or your scc, but....that never stopped me before....
Ime AGMs have a higher charging top voltage than LA. I have charged my old AGMs with a LA profile successfully (ymmv) as the peak charge voltage was lower, thus no danger of overcharge. This probably means I didn't get the AGMs to totally 'full', though they were charged well enough to be useful. Do keep in mind that AGM is just another variation on LA and LA Likes To Be Kept Fully Charged.
Now, to take a guess... Your scc option of AGM may have a default set of parameters that takes place when you key AGM, and they will likely be fine but until you can actually see what they are you wont know.
So...since you ran with LA ok on your system set for LA it should be a plug&play with no problem/danger UNTIL you get the real detailed info on profiling your scc to those AGM parameters.
Or, key AGM and let the box do its job while you monitor it for what its running at.

My charge controller doesn't have an AGM option.

I have also found a couple articles saying that it won't hurt my batteries if I use "sealed" option, but it won't completely use the AGM batteries at their optimum ability. I also found a "solar power" forum so I think I may need to go over there and ask.

Oops, spaced it out that you said no AM in the 1st post.
You may find more than enough info online by looking for charge parameters of AGM vs Sealed and maybe GEL bats.
Iirc you DONT want 'equalization' for either of those.

I went over and joined diy solar forum. There are some serious solar brains over there. Got my answers.

They gave me a link to charging the marathon m12v155ft https://www.cogenient.com/GNB_Exide_Marathon_Terminal_&_Charging.html

Also found this link there. They explained to me that my values will be half because I have 12v system and the link is talking about 24v system.

Thanks for the help.
