I happened across some pics today taken in 1933 of buildings at the Biltmore School of Forestry, this was one of the student's lodges in the forest, built in the 1880's it was moved to the Cradle of Forestry in the 70's and restored. Blow them up, this is a cool old cabin. https://www.loc.gov/resource/hhh.nc0519.photos/?sp=1&st=gallery
Some friends and I had hiked in and were winter camping in another of the lodges in the '70's when a crew came in to clear a helicopter pad. That cabin from Turkeypen Gap is also now at the Cradle of Forestry in America. This was all George Vanderbilt's hunting land back in the day.

This is another nice looking timberframed cabin from the same area. https://www.loc.gov/resource/hhh.nc0524.photos?st=gallery

Wow, thanks for sharing these, DRP! The timber framing on that Black Forest Lodge cabin is really impressive, such a neat glimpse into how cabins were built back then. The detail in those photos is amazing.
If you want, I can also draft an even shorter, snappier version that fits forum style perfectly. Do you want me to do that?

No need for me but it could be a fun project. Have at it if you have the time and desire... what program do you use? I run sketchup 2017.
