This is one I don't think I'll find answers to in the archives, so, honestly, I didn't search.
I'm looking at both these water heaters to potentially replace my ecotemp L10.

My L10 is working fine, but it's 7 years old and it is kind of a pain fiddling with the flow and heat valves. I've been spoiled by the tankless in my camper that you just set to a temp and it does the rest (though I hate it for other reasons, namely the water it wastes). The L10 also is very hard to regulate in the heat lately, as I have to set the flow to a minimum amount to get it to light, but then it's hard to set the flame low enough to prevent too hot of a water temp in the shower. So maybe it's a bit overkill on size.
The newer ecotemp I linked to is a bit smaller so that might be a plus. I believe it is not thermostatically controlled and that is just a digital readout of water temp. I have a call into them to find out. With the camplux, there is a manual flow control knob, and it automatically adjusts the flame to the output temp you select. They also make another one like that with half the output (similar in size to an ecotemp L5).
So 2 questions. Does anyone here have either of these? I always questioned if I should have gone with the L5 size rather than the L10. For those of you with an L5, does it supply enough hot water in your place when the temp drops outside, or were you wishing you went with a larger unit.

I don't have either of those exact models but do have a smaller Camplux model with manual gas and water flow controls. It works best with cold water right from the well but can be managed with warmer water. It produces what we call a "city shower". It is capable of producing very hot water even in the winter. When it dies I'll definitely replace it with a fancier camplux like the one you linked to. This one is 4 years old and going strong so quality hasn't been a concern for me. It's probably time to flush it with some vinegar.

Thanks for the reply. I decided to go with the smaller Camplux F5 Ultra (the baby brother of the one in my link). I measured the flow out of our shower with our existing water heater and the flow out of the 5 series should be sufficient. No one runs the sink and shower simultaneously.
I did get a response from ecotemp. I was correct that there is no thermostatic control on the one I linked to, though their video of the woman washing her dog would suggest otherwise. Same deal with the 2 dial adjustment as the one I already have. Just has a digital readout of the output temp.

Just a follow up. After some testing, I sent the F5 back and ordered the larger F10 unit. I was afraid I'd have to reduce the flow too much on the F5 when temps got colder. Glad I did. The F10 works great for our place that has kitchen and bath on opposite ends of the cabin with the water heater between. It works way better than the Ecotemp L 10 it replaced. No more fiddling with the dials and getting scorched anyway. I just set it to 115F and it regulates the temp from there. I use straight hot water at the kitchen sink, and can mix cold in for a shower without it shutting down. The Ecotemp was right on the edge and would shut down if I tried mixing cold in due to the reduced flow.

All these have a tempature rise spec for a specific GPM. This may mean when cold water, 40F you may need to restrict the flow so much the heater may not kick the burner on.

Sounds familiar Brett. I have two shower heads, one outside next to the Ecotemp. The heat knob is right there, easily adjusted while showering. Other shower inside, if you’re lucky you might get in a shower without turning on the cold knob. If you do, be prepared to kill the Ecotemp. For the sink just go with straight hot or cold water.

does the camplux F10 have a vent so it *could* be installed inside and vented outside?
