Happy New Year! Anyone have a to-do list already formed for 2012?
 Here's mine so far:

 1. partially bury my water cistern and re-plumb to cabin
 2. cut new trails through the woods.
 3. build a new footbridge over the stream that won't float away at high water
 4. spruce up the front of the cabin with some spruce trees
 5. Work less at the cabin and relax more

 wire + plumb the cabin
 insulate
put finish on walls and floors
 add fixtures and lights
 dig well , install septic

 move in!

That should keep me busy until summer anyway.. I'm 3rs from my cabin and can only go once a week at best.

early spring my goal is to finish the shower/toilet building and cover the porch. the most important goal for me is to then enjoy it the rest of the season.

Continue clearing Red Cedar from the Oak forest areas and liberate the lone standing Oak.
Take delivery of the JD 3720/MX5/grapple/treeshear/trailer.

Install cabinets (burglars stole my storage containers, cabinets will be too much work to steal)
Install counter with sink and pitcher pump, set up gray water drain
Plan cabin extension (14 x 22 gets a bit cozy with our 3 kids under 9)
Plant hostas and other low light plants
Hide some security cameras and get pictures of next burglars
 "Outhouse" for compost toilet
 Firewood storage building
Clear a bit more firebreak around cabin
"Work less and enjoy more" per Vince P

for turkeyhunter it will always be:
hunt, hunt, hunt, work on cabin, hunt, hunt...you get the idea.

 for me,
Get the building permit and septic placed. I have an opportunity to buy 100 pieces of used tin for $4.00 a piece. I have no where to store. Where does everyone store materials in anticipation of building?

Where does everyone store materials in anticipation of building?Buy the tin...you won't regret it and store it wherever you can. Ours sat behind our shed and under our deck for a quite a while. At one time we had almost our whole cabin in our garage and still where able to get both cars in during the winter. You'll need to be creative on how you stack and store that's all :)

Trouble with these lists is they're causing me to think of more stuff to do! My original list was:
 -- build a deck.
 -- trail work.
-- tear down an old cabin and reuse material on a shed.
 -- more R & R

We are headed to our "White Birch Acres" this coming weekend to start our 2012 list.

 This year I plan to:

Open up more of the woods surrounding our cabin
Plan and lay out a 12x12 addition to our 12x16 cabin
Start construction on the addition pending my employment status
 Actually enjoy the "backwoods"

Considering the high temperature on Saturday and Sunday is going to be 2 degrees Farenheit, I am not sure how much outside work I am going to get accomplished. Just being at the cabin is enough for me.

 OMGosh,
If I wrote it all down and my husband saw it he would be fit to be tied!
Suffice it to say, it is a long and distinguished list:)

and if you can keep a secret it looks something like this....

 Panel inside of cabin
 Stain wood
 Hang trim pieces
 Hang curtain rods/curtains
 Make hide under loft aways
Install all electrical (lights/outlets) in and outside cap them
Install solar, plug extensions, hang lights
 Install walls of shower room
Tile floor / walls / fireplace / backsplash
Box out propane tanks, stove, fridge
Install wash tub next to shower
Install clear roof over wash tub
 Make side deck

I guess now that I look at it, it is much smaller than past years:)

1- Get through government red tape to obtain zoning and building permits. Been waiting about 1 1/2 months for the zoning permit so far.

2- Do some repairs and improvements to our camp Jeep.

3- Build our building shell and try to get it weather tight before next winter.

We are essentially hopefully finished with the project(s) and everything seems to be running smoothly and we are comfortable so if it ain't broke don't fix it. Cross fingers. Knock on wood.

Plan is to enjoy, enjoy, enjoy the place as much as possible.

 Do have some projects tho:

-get some gravel (50 yards +) in at the yard site and along the driveway

-get a couple of full 1/4 cask Laphroig bottles at the shack and some Baileys bottles and try and empty them.

-fire up the cameras and take pictures of everything

-get the telescope out and enjoy the night skies

 And now the odd stuff:

-get a native plant nursery set up and running

-do a biodiversity survey of everything that creepeth and crawleth and groweth on the property..... You may ask whyeth!!??! We supposedly have a site visit by a nature group this spring that may result in our property becoming a nature sanctuary. Would be super if it all works out and the place would be protected after we are gone.

Anyways that is our plan(s) for 2012
