The porch on the river side has been enclosed with windows...some would call it a Florida room. My hammock is out there; I sleep with the windows open on all but the coldest nights.

We have two adirondack chairs on the porch and my wife and I love having our morning coffee sitting in the chairs over looking the forest. It's perfect even on rainy days! In the evening we enjoy a glass of wine and listen to the sounds of the forest!

Our porch has also been known to be used as a stage when we have family and friends up and we have a few malted beverages and start the karoke to whatever music is playing!

It also seems to be the place where so many family photos are taken.
All in all our porch is usually the central point of a trip to the cabin!

Right now and up to this point....we use it to store extra materials and tools. Plan to build some Adirondack chairs for it and maybe screen it in one of these days.

We do use our porch on the house here in Dearborn for lunch and dinner and just hanging out.

Right now it has alot more left over building materials piled on it than I would like.

Hopefully those will be used up in the next couple of weeks and the porch used more for what it was meant for...cook outs and enjoying the view.

Now that sounds perfect! So far my wife has used it to plan more projects for me, my son to imagine what it would be like if he could plan more projects for me, and I have used it to store material for the projects (sounds like MJW)!. This summer will be different!

This summer will involve building the porch roof. When the days work is done we enjoy rum & coke, wine or beer as we take in the view. Also I am trying to get on the same page as "oldgringo" and setup a hammock.

Yes, those were quite common in the old days. Also, many used to set up a clothes line on their covered porch. If it rained, they could still hang the laundry outside. We can learn a LOT from the old ways!!!!

Last night I went out with Noelle to look for the moon (a wonderful little distraction). It was too cloudy, and we were chased in by the mosquitoes
They sure can ruin a good time in a hurry

We don't have a porch, yet. We have a huge overhang that was built for a future sun porch. We have a picnic table underneath the overhang. We eat dinner there every night. It faces the lake so we have a nice view.

Forgot to add that we will be using it as a sleeping porch in the summer months. We sleep in the loft and it can get quite warm up there some nights. We are off grid so the only thing I can use to keep cool is a battery operated fan.

silverwaterlady - Your place is beautiful. That will be an amazing porch when you get it done. If you are going to use it as a sleeping porch, will you screen it in to keep the mosquitoes away?

Hi Hattie-Thank You. Our porch will be a 3 season room. With sliding patio doors on the front. It would be easier to just build a screen porch but we wouldn't get to use it as much since summer is short in Canada.
