Hello
I would just like some advice on my bowing wall on one side of my log cabin.
It was installed by myself 1 year ago and I have noticed a significant bow on one side on the cabin. It was fully treated with Sadolin paint last year. Please see pictures attached.

I am not worried but would like a second opinion.

Many thanks

PAUL.

What's holding the logs together?

Hello

They are interlinked together by tongue and groove joints. See picture enclosed.

Thanks

Hopefully it has stabilized at that.....but Id take some measurements using the long straightedge and make notes/diagram for future ref and checking (I forget too easy now).

So theres really nothing holding them together. Where they kiln dried prior to install? If not your only looking at a fraction of the drying process.

You may want to contact the manufacturer and see if they suggest you use screws to hold the logs together. It looks like your getting some twisting in a few logs due to drying.

This might be seasonal. Dry winter air contracts, humid summer air expands. I would wait and see if it moves with the seasons. If it contracts again, you could attach to the outside (perpendicular) several dry boards with construction adhesive and screws. Paint it same color and it will look like part of the design. You are fighting some strong forces so you may need to start with 4 boards, 4 inches wide, top to bottom. More tongue and groove would help. Did you use adhesive along the full run between each board?
