I've been lurking on this forum for some time, first post.
I just found a bunch of old aluminum storm doors, and walked away with 6 nice tempered glass frames. I'd like to use them for unopenable windows. At first I thought I could build the frames to the size of the aluminum frame and install the complete thing. But it seems like removing the metal frames and installing the glass in a wooden frame would remove a serious vector for heat transmission (aluminum being a very good conductor).
Have any of you experience recycling tempered glass in aluminum frames? I like the idea of using tempered glass as a safety concern, and also the price was right (ie, free)
