Small Cabin Forum / Cabin Construction / How high off gravel?

Swamphunter Member	# Posted: 20 Apr 2012 18:08 Reply  My 20x24 cabin will be on 6x6 skids. I am setting it on a gravel pad in an area with adequate drainage. Should the cabin be raised higher than just the 6x6 skids by putting it on concrete block? If so, I was thinking 2 courses of block so I can shimmy under it should I need to. Even though there is no power or water. I forgot to mention, everything is PT flooring....
turkeyhunter Member	# Posted: 20 Apr 2012 18:18 Reply  i would go at least 24' off the ground----my 1st cabin was built low to the ground --added plumbing later what a PIA.....you never now you might need to get under there---also the dampness moved in later in years,,,,,that;s one reason for my new babin build---this one is over 3 foot off the ground and i can sit down, plumb/ wire etc under there.
