Does any body have any good alternatives to using the black Acoustiseal for sealing up vapor barrier? I have grown to hate it with a passion. It gets everywhere...though I have found WD-40 does an amazing job of cleaning it up.

Haven't seen that stuff. What I have seen is special tape made to seal joints in certain vapor barriers, such as the 'Stego Wrap' 10 mil. Bt I've always wondered how effective such tape would really be.

I hate the black stuff, it gets everywhere. In BC we use a product by "Shurtape" called "tuck tape" It's red and sticks like you know what. It's approved by building code here and I haven't seen it fail. It's used on poly and on tyvec.
