It's been a couple years since I've posted. Progress kind of stalled out at our camp until last fall when we added a barrell sauna. Thennthus spring were trying to figure our next project when my daughter got a summer job at Quetico Provincial Park. Since that meant my wife and her would be living at camp this summer, a shower became priority. We ordered the Bathroom Bunkie kit from Bunkie Life just for ease of construction (not our best move) and last night finally finished the plumbing and had our first hot shower.
I had no idea what I was doing with the plumbing and was pleasantly surprised with the result.

It's so nice. I'm not sure what keeps happening to my pictures. I'll have to try on my computer when I'm back home.

Jack, after so many days without a shower, one wants to go home.

I too, installed a shower and everyday, a nice clean shower and feel like I just showed up to the cabin.

Have to have a shower or you are just camping

Those instant water heaters work great!

I pump water into the 55gal barrel when I get there, its run by a 12v pump, battery with a solar charger. The runs through the propane instant heater which is vented to the outside. I have it hooked to a switch and just last weekend plumbed in a sink.... its all run into a gray water drain field.

Did you guys have problems with fittings? I figured out the hard way that the pitch is different on the garden hose/instant heater vs regular plumbing.... what a pain!

Since we are sharing outdoor showers…. We rebuilt our deck at home and incorporated an outdoor shower. I have wanted one since we moved in but there was always something else to that needed attention first. We live near the beach so it is working out great rinse off the sand, truth be told I haven’t taken a shower inside since we finished it over a month ago. I think I will set one up at the cabin as well.

My Ecotemp had the same fitting for both inlet and outlet. It had an adapter threaded on the inlet side for a garden hose which I removed. I brought that adapter to the hardware store and the fella matched it up right away. I think it was the same thread as the bottom of a faucet (you know where you use a braided hose between the shutoff valve and faucet). They had a fitting that went from that to PEX.

After installing it, I probably should have done the valve and braided hose. The fitting to the bottom of the heater has a rubber seal which will eventually wear out. Since I went directly to PEX, I will need to cut it off to replace. Future me will probably use a braided hose then (or I will be too old to remember).
