I need to replace my stove gasket. Instructions say let it sit for 12 hours and then start with a small fire. As this is a weekend cabin and it's November, I don't have a 12 hour window without wood stove use. Any Ideas? Can I stretch the 12 hours to 4 or 5 days? Or shorten the 12 hour wait. Thanks

What’s it made of? Did mine this year, was just a white rope from the stove store. Bit of glue, seam the ends and shut the door, fire going.

The "wait 12 hours" is most likely to allow the cement to dry slowly. It should not matter if you wait 12 hours or 12 months to light the first fire. Just my thoiughts.
