Got back to the cabin late yesterday after a few days away*. It’s always cold in here first day, takes time to heat the structure and stuff inside. I’m a wood stove guy living in the forest so normally just wait for that to do the job. There is an LP wall heater I never use, crap around it and I forget how to even light it. So last night I brought in an empty 5 gallon tank that no longer runs the water heater but still ran a tank top heater. Still not convinced of the safety but it sure helped heat the place quickly along with the wood stove. Ran it for under an hour. Good way to burn the last bit of fuel in those tanks. Wife was worried the dog was going to fry himself but he knew better.
*Got rid of our 1996 Chevy S10 2wd. The state had a plan where you could turn in 1995-1999 vehicles for a 2,000$ buyback, an air pollution reduction thing. It had an engine knock and a few other old car things, so to the boneyard it went.

The quickest BTU Kicker to up the temps there is! LOTS of safety considerations to stay aware of including dont store it inside between uses, but you are a smart guy So the state of CA is giving folks $2k to surrender 95-99 vehicles.....do they have to run/drive in to qualify?

Yeah, there are a couple things. First, you have to show registration, current and two years prior, pink in your name. I had a friend trailer it there, 50 miles away and worried it might throw a rod. But they only have you start and drive it in the parking lot.

I have used our 12kbtu mini split to help get the temps up in our cabin along with two 1500w electric heaters all ran via generator. After about 20min there doing nearly nothing compared to the wood stove. I dont even bother with anything but the wood stove now. I just put more kindling than normal in it. We have about 800 sqrt and can go from 32f to 65* in about 1hr. Keeping bedroom doors shut and a ceiling fan on really helps. Then when its 70f and the stove is still ripping you can open the bedroom doors and allow the whole place to equalize.
I believe those tank top heaters are 15kbtu?
