 Just visited recently, great site!
Can anyone out there tell me definitively if a solar panel does or does not contain a computer chip inside of it?
Your help would be greatly appreciated and feel free to contact me directly via e-mail.
 Thanks much!

No chip in them, but they are made from the same basic material.

Worried about EMP? Solar panels can be very basic with little more than a current blocking diode...but some of the related equipment will certainly be chipped (inverters, charge controllers etc.)

I've had a Harbor Freight 45 watt set on the roof since 2008..NOT one problem yet, yes it has blocking Diode--& I added a seperate one (radio shack)6 Amp, to Bypass the controller since some days the controller is Just not working,I monitor it with a RS, analog Volt meter.
 my 2 cents worth,.
I have yet to ground it,but will soon.county inspector says it's required---(mine is Grandfathered) but i just got the Ground rod-Ill do it this weekend.
I'm wiring my house with 12 volt DC lighting, either CFL or LED's.
