seem kind of over-priced to me.

Or, buy an MPPT controller and spend $27 more dollars each and get some of these. I have 3 of them and they have worked fine for over a year now.

This seems like a much better deal but they're poly instead of mono if that matters big picture. Shipping is high but still. http://www.amazon.com/145w-Polycrystalline-Solar-Panel-Pack/dp/B007VPQP5Q/ref=sr_1_2? s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1367710879&sr=1-2&keywords=12v+solar+panel+2pk

Poly vs mono? You're talking to a solar newbie, can you explain? Great price though!

Polycrystalline are a bit less efficient than monocrystalline and take up more space but they're usually a little cheaper. Also mono looks smoother while poly has a grainier appearance. Overall if you're not limited on space there doesn't seem to be much difference aside from price/watt. With the $120 shipping these poly panels come out to around $1.20/watt but you have to buy two panels, while the mono are around $1.80/watt.

Keep in mind, I also am a newbie at, well, everything involved with off-grid and at home I'm generally consider as being full of...information. I can talk theory all day but don't have any practical experience. Maybe someone who has actually used both types of panel will jump in with new data before you actually spend money. Good luck.

I have one of the DM panels. I was lucky enough to get it last year when you could order just one, and shipping was free. The DM panel is okay, and seems to output almost what it claims. Seems sturdy enough.

Figure out how much power you need. So far, I can get by just fine with just this one panel and a couple of WalMart marine batteries. (But I'm a weekender, so I only need power three days in a row at most). What helped a lot was replacing my incandescent lights with LED lights. I do have a small generator that I can use when I want to run the microwave oven. I stay at my real house when it's hot, so having enough power to run air conditioning isn't an issue for me.

I'd absolutely get it. Looks very similar in both specs and appearance to what I bought a year ago from Home Depot (Grape Solar), but this is $20.00 less and with free shipping.
