 Ran across this on the web. They took a cardboard box, wrapped it inside and out with foil, put charcoal in it with a foil pan, and cooked apple crumble above the charcoal. It worked. She says when they took it apart, a hole had burned through the cardboard but it hadn't caught fire. Very inventive.

 I wouldnt of set it up as the base of a tree leeching flammable pitch out, but that is just me. Otherwise, it looks like it worked out well.

 saw a guy bake brownies in a cardboard box at a hog hunting camp. He said the cardboard box was 7 years old.
  ...said he took it on all his camping trips.

 There's a guy I watch on you tube who does a lot of different types of off-grid cooking.  For instance, he's skinned an oven situated a rocket stove beneath it and bakes in it at full temps.
