Stumbled upon a mother deer and her fawn. The deer ran off (in hopes to distract the attacker) and the fawn dropped to the ground and froze! For at least two minutes she didn't make a move. We didn't want to freak her out so we walked on. Doubled back and she was gone. Also found a cool newt!

Oh my goodness that fawn is adorable. They freeze for protection. Since they are obviously too small to defend themselves, if they sense danger they crouch down and freeze, hoping not to be seen. Quite often the mother will try to distract the "danger" away from her baby. Even to the point she may pretend to be injured to draw the danger away.

The newt picture is great too!!!

Awwwww, that little fawn is adorable! Poor little things heart must have been just pounding. Very neat picture. Thank you for sharing with us.
