here is some land formations we will be seeing up at our land.
we have alot of oddly weird things.
we live on mt.scott on the other side of crater lake national park.
we are at the 5000ft meadows of the mountain.mt scott is almost 9000 ft high.
we are in high desert.our soil is pumice.
we are at near sand creek and these are called the sand creek pinnacles.
we are about 15 mins.from all this wild beauty.
u can fish at crater lake with no fishing license. u can only keep five trout daily.
share what u see and have in your land...if u wish.

We can't see that far. The land is fairly flat and there's too many trees. The best we can do is look under them or across water, or even closer.

Here in the Flint Hills of Kansas its burn season. The tall grass prairie is burned off to give cattle access to the new growth. Thousands of acres are burnt at a time. Its quiet the sight to see...especially at night! Unfortunately, my night shots were too blurry to post.

I had no idea Kansas prairie was burned... interesting... Do you ever worry the fire will blaze out of control Tom?

UMMM, Yeah! The volunteer fire departments are pretty busy for a week or two. We had several trucks out here when the tall grass around our place was torched.

Not all of Kansas has tallgrass prairie...most has been plowed up and turned into farm fields. Here in the Flint Hills, the rocks make farming impossible except in the bottom areas. There is less than 1% of the tallgrass prairie left, and most of that is right here.

The grass surrounding us was really thick because I'm surrounded by Conservation Reserve Program land. It hadn't been burned for 9 years, but the cedar trees were beginning to take over. My company, from out-of-state, had the rare opportunity to be up-close to a large, fast-moving grass fire. Thankfully, the winds blew the smoke away from us. We had a week of watching the flames against the night sky. The grasses are already sprouting. Soon, the hills will be green as a golf course.

we are in wildfire country too.
we had our back wood burned down but it was some fella from the east coast that came and cleared off his land next to ours and it was not the time to burn and sure enough.the fire caught on and went burning to our place.
all the neighbors and fire fighters kept the fire from our land .we were so grateful for them.
