Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum, and really enjoy reading it so far!

I'm moving to Bozeman, Montana soon. There's a lot of project I'm very excited to work on while I'm there. One of them is a childhood dream of building a log cabin using hand tools only. I don't intend to live in this cabin (other than a couple nights camping maybe), but want to attempt building it with my brother for the joy of it.

I looked into buying land for this, but this doesn't make sense for me since I won't be staying in Montana for longer than a year. I'm curious if there's any other way I can approach getting approval for this? Where can I search for people who might be able to let me build on their land?

Thanks for all the help

Good luck, sounds pretty ambitious.
Maybe check with engineering or building sciences at MSU and see if they have anything going on or know. We built a D style kit log home in a subdivision above the bozone years ago.

A couple of quick hits;
