Just made a single bed for my 10x12. Used some scraps for the slats and 2x4. I mounted a 2x4 to the wall with 3.5 screws, do you think I need support studs on wall? We pretty much hang out in cabin but do spend about 10 nights a week as it is in the trees at our farm.

That is awesome, nice job! Does that just fold down and sit on the legs and rest on a wood ledge?

Yes two fold out legs and a 2x4 ledge. It is attached using some scrap door hinges. Thanks.

Nice hide a bed.

Great job! Looks nice and sturdy. We have a built in bunk that I am building a small extension for. Total hack job compared to that lol

Yes regular door hinges from a steel outside door. I tend to have a few old doors around. Awesome name nik Murphy bed. Thanks

Exactly, I built something but comparatively it looks like poop, and prehistoric.
Nik's looks like it was purchased at Ikea (which is shocking because no one can ever seem to put their stuff together, so it was a double wow , looked good and put together).
Back to the drawing board

The mattress is a foam camping mat from cabelas about 15 years ago. The straps around the slates are to roll it up. Very comfy. After taking the pic I replaced the tie up with a hook and eyelet.

Very similar to what I did in my floating cabin.
I used 4 inch door hinges too.
Good job ! Folding up the bed.

Awesome work! We could really use a design like that in our Bunkie. Any chance of making kits available online?
@ Pookie - I will post pics of my goofy bed extension and I bet you will feel a lot better about yours lol

I have slept on it about 5 nights and still looks good. I am 200 lbs so should be good for the kids who have been fighting to see who can sleep on it.

Folding for space is cool. I stumbled on this today, uses tracks from a garage door to make the bed "roll-up" onto the wall. A little more involved that just a fold-down bed, but still cool idea.
