So I decided to finally post my progress...I have enjoyed seeing other people's build threads on here, so I figured I would take the time to post my own. Maybe I will inspire an idea for someone. Building my cabin was the greatest idea, and every time I am there I just look around at what I have created and I smile from ear to ear! If you are on the fence about putting in the effort to build one, all I can say is Just Do It!
Started with a trailer with an addition...enjoyed it for a few years while planning some upgrades.

After getting rid of the trailer and moving the addition a tad, it was time to start the new addition! First I got a mini back hoe to clear and level the land...lots of rocks to deal with!

went with a cathedral ceiling for the new part...which got the spray foam treatment as well... brought in a pro company for the ceiling though...spent a fortune on insulation but I am glad I did!

I bought some rough cut pine to do the exterior siding...the old part was cedar, so it was hard to match it up...but it turned out pretty good.
We worked really hard to stain all the boards before installing them.

I wanted to show the load of rough cut pine I bought for a great price for the board and batten siding...I drove the back roads slowly for about 60 kms to get to my camp...what a ride it was! I was scared I would get pulled over the whole time! lol
But I made it no problem. Turned out I had to go back for more anyways...thought I could get it all in one trip.

Once the exterior was finished...including soffit and fascia which I don't have a good pic of, I started to consider the inside. Insulation was done.

then I found some really cool "imitation barn board" on CL.
I bought enough to do the whole 12X24 addition, with only 2 boards left over at the end! Talk about a stroke of luck! I got all the used siding for inside for 250 bucks, and it looks awesome!

I picked up some cheap b-grade t&G pine wainscotting for the ceiling, and I used the last of the wall siding to cover the seams of the 8 foot t&G boards to look like mini beams kinda...I used black and brown crayons to rough up the clean cuts on the barn board boards, and it hides the cuts perfectly. This engineered barn board is really cool... I will try and find a close up pic of it. Very unique, and I doubt I could ever find more like it. Oh...and the ceiling fan was installed to center the other room (the 10X12) in order to draw heat from the wood stove in fall and winter. That is why it is off centre to the 12X24 room.

I opened up the regular door on the 10X12 to make it open concept. My carpenter buddy did an awesome job on trimming around the windows etc...I used thick rails from a waterbead found in the garbage to fab all the windowsills....love to up-cycle!

I went a year or 2 with just a ply wood floor, which was a pain to sweep. Last year I found about 700 square feet of LVP vinyl plank flooring for 500 bucks. I used what I needed and easily sold the rest for 250, so I got a new floor for cheap, and it looks all right...wasn't my favorite colour, but I think it looks ok. Vinyl plank is much easier to keep clean, and it was pretty easy to install myself.

The original door for the original 10X12 cabin that was attachec to the trailer was always problematic, as it was an odd size, homemade, and very drafty. Last summer I found an old door on line that had a window, and a dead bolt and knob lock that worked...it even included two sets of keys! I drove an hour to get it, but it was only 20 bucks, including the frame!
I had my carpenter friend fab me up a screen door with the wood from the old door. If you closely in this pic, you can see the gussetts on the screen door has some green plaid wallpaper in the corners of the door. I purposely left the wall paper on the wood as a nod or a tribute to the old trailer. The thin plywood with the wall paper used to be shelves in the camper, and it reminds of how we used to "rough it" everytime I see it.

Last summer I decided to switch out my old style wood stove for a newer air tight model. I burn way less wood now, and the walls don't get hot anymore. My old box stove went through wood really fast, and the metal wall protection got pretty hot sometimes. I know my clearances aren't to code...but its amazing how much better this newer stove runs. It has a blower on it as well.

so I had my new door...I had my new floor...but I really neede a small deck so I could stop tracking so much mud in and out.
Last summer I finally got the help I needed to build my little deck, and I love it! I threw up a bit of eaves trough as well. A new water table was built to finish off this year's project.

Next year I hope to finish my kitchen area...right now the plan is to go for an industrial look, with tin wall covering, or that fake diamond plate, maybe half way up like wainscotting, beadboard above. Still thinking on this. I want new cupboards too, as mine are just freebies from suburbia. Maybe something custom will be cool.
My propane fridge is just the half size one from the camper, but I would love to upgrade that.
I will try and update this thread with any improvements I do...and I hope you enjoyed looking at my little piece of paradise.
 Can't wait to go back up there to catch a trout...or a walleye...or a bass...or...
 Peace!
