I've had one of these for years. Ran across a deal at amazon and just got another as a back up. You can use it on camp fire coals or just about any stove.

We never had good luck with those. It was tough to get an even toasting across the bread slice.

I have the 2 nd one. Threw out the old style that just dried toast out. The new one will burn fast if you don’t watch it but works great and fast

At a fishing camp that I go to, they use the large coffee tins and cut the top and bottom out. Then put two cross wires at one end (maybe from clothes hangers). They work great.
