I had a situation earlier. A friend of mine is staying in a camper on my neighbors property. His x wife called me and asked if I could check on him. She said he called her and wasn't making sense. I went down there and knocked on the door, no response. I kept beating on the door then went in. He was face down on the bed, totally unresponsive and lethargic. I called his x and told her to call the ambulance, and I was going back to my cabin to get my med kit. I grabbed the kit, and a couple big chunks of ice. When I first went in the camper, it was cold enough to give me chills since I was sweaty riding the 4 wheeler. His bp was 174/101. Not good. Blood O2, 96 and pulse 84. I rubbed the ice on his arteries on his neck and on his wrists. I brought cold water and put a wet towel on him. Took his bp about 15 minutes later. 101/70. Big difference. It took the EMTs 45 minutes to get there. They are all volunteers. So it is what it is. They didn't think it was heat Stroke. I had to help remove him from the camper and load him on the gurney. Air lifted him to St.L U. It took an hour and 39 minutes later. After the first call. It was heat stroke. The paramedics said, if I hadn't checked on him, they probably would have called the coroner, not the chopper. This guy worked outside all the time. Never drank water. Just jumbo fountain soda. Stay hydrated folks.
