I must have left something on my dining room table that went through the table cloth. Why it's a white stain I have no idea, won't wipe off. Anyone familiar with this type of thing?

That's water getting into finish. If you're lucky it hasn't penetrated to wood. Try an iron with a towel to gently heat it.

Wow, that did the trick! Relatives coming for dinner tomorrow. I'd post a pic but you can't even see it. Thanks a bunch Huey!

Do you know what finish was used? Shellac does that white thing with water. Often leaves white rings where a wet glass was left. There are ways to repair; sometimes they work better than others. Use google to search a solution. Sometimes rubbing it out with alcohol can work IF it is shellac.

Could it have been a heat caused mark?

Almost all other finishes require stripping, sanding, etc. etc.

Must be shellac then, it looks great! About where the coin is. Just a couple minutes with the iron on a rag. Don't remember what caused it, happened a couple year ago, I've just been ignoring it until today. Was my mother's dining room table so glad it's fixed.
