You'll be hard pressed to find a microwave that would run off a 1000 watt inverter generator. Keep in mind the "1000" refers to peak watts. Continuous will be more like 900 watts. IIRC the "2000" models have a continuous rating of about 1600 watts. Also keep in mind that a microwave advertised as a 700 watt will actually use more like 1000-1100; the advertised # is the cooking power.

I already have the Yamaha 1000. I bought it for use on my boat for running bait attracting lights for night Striper fishing. I have some friends that have the Honda 2000. The Yamaha is quiter (47dB versus 53 dB IIRC) but you get twice the power for not much more noise and the price is comparable. If I get another one, it will be the Honda 2000 to run coffee maker and larger draw items that my Yamaha 1000 will not handle.

One thing mentioned is quality being equal. I am not sure about that. If you look up companies that sell both, they list them as follows: Generac - Good, Honda - Better, Yamaha - best.

The nice thing about the Honda is that if you buy it and don't like it, you can re-sell it and get almost all your money back out of it. They are like Yeti coolers... there may be better ones out there but the marketing and popularity make them sell much better.

I know you inquired about a generator. Just wanted to point out that there are 12 volt Flat Screen TV's available that can run off a small solar system. This is a Naxa 12 volt flat screen with an internal DVD player that I installed couple years ago at the shack. Gets used frequently. I usually have it swung in front of the inverters, etc. but was using the inverters at the time of the picture. Oh, and the solar is totally quiet.
