After reading these posts, my concern would be the toxins from the shipping container getting into one's soil and water system. Definitely something to think about.

I doubt it, its just a metal can, no more toxic than a yard art car. As long as this thread popped back up, I will add my final photos. I posted several times on this thread on my project I was working on. This is the final deal. Stays cool inside, no sweat, vents down low on one aide, vents up high on other, none in the roof, just the sides. Roof has 12" vents at each end. Underside of container is just setting on a thick bed of crushed rock, packed, no frost heaving and no moisture, drains off well. I added mesh or metal fabric into the fork pockets to keep varmints out.

Had a pretty easy fire season, nothing close since 2015. Yeah, just a cloudy overcast day which is rare over there. I took a picture of my newest upgraded solar panel, this was done a year ago to a charge controller.
Here I am going in just ahead of the fires to clear back timberline from my cabin. Water Tender truck was slower than molasses going up the hill. Smoke was thick.
Second picture, clearing back fire-line, treeline was close to the cabin, I removed so much timber and next spring, came in with probably 100+ yards of gravel.

My brother has one for storage/workshop space, and they work quite well—they are cold and wet in the winter, but his former warehouse space was as well. Insulation may not make it cool (spam link deleted by Mod.) , it would just slow down the rate at which it heated up. It would be best if it were shaded beneath a roof, with vents along the bottom and top to allow hot air to escape and cold air to enter. Perhaps a coat of reflective paint would suffice.
