I have been lurking for a while but using the considerable knowledge base this site provides to make my cabin a reality. My cabin is a pre-fabricated type. I use mine most weekends. I grew up in the woods of Mississippi but after graduating from the University of Alabama, I married a girl who loves the subdivision life of sidewalks and neighborhood gatherings as much as I love the peace and solitude of the woods. She is a special woman so I compromised, give me a getaway and I will happily live the subdivision life. So I found some cheap land and went to work improving it. Building roads and clearing land. When it came time to invest in a cabin I chose a pre fab because I simply don't have the experience to build from the ground up. Maybe down the road I will. That is when I discovered this site and tapped a vein of knowledge and tips that has been extraordinarily helpful. I felt I should pay that forward and share my experience in case it may benefit someone else. My cabin in 12x24 including a porch. I went 12 volt with 2 100 watt panels and 1 100 amp-hour battery. All from windy nation via amazon. I have 5 led lights, 12 volt tv with DVD player. I have a 12 volt cell booster and 3 outlets for various items such as cell charger or radio. Figuring out the electrical was daunting but this site was invaluable. I will attempt to post a picture in case in helps anyone new attempting a 12 volt system. The My heat comes from a propane wall heater. If you want a cabin in Alabama that can be used year round then you need an AC. I have a 5000 btu AC that I run off a 2000 watt generator. Water is brought in those blue containers with a pipe to a bucket. My next project will be installing a plumbing system incorporating rain barrels, filters, and a 12 volt pump. I will attempt to post pictures. I just wanted to say how appreciative of this site and members I am. Thank you.

Your place looks real nice. I can't wait to see your posts about the rainwater system you are going to use. I am going to be setting up a rainwater system after I finish a few other projects at my cabin. I'm not sure how I'm going to set up the system but maybe I can borrow a few of your ideas.
