trollbridge, I will be running a small fridge, 8-4watt LED lights, small LED TV, small sterio and a 12v water pump. I can add one more 95W pannel to my system and I think I will also add a wind mill this year to keep all running strong threw the winter.

Mark2011, I own a mechanical contracting company so they were ordered threw my plumbing supplier "Andrew sherits" cost was about $1400.00 but you can buy them direct from Percission plastics.

I love bears...any kind, but I would be scared to death if I had to worry about a bear coming in contact with my son or neice and nephew when my back was turned or if it just came out of no where. I imagine it's something you get used to. Here in Ohio, especially in the southeast part of the state, bear sightings have been few and far between, even though they are around here. They are a beautiful animal and I've always wanted to see one in the wild, but I don't know how I'd feel about them living close to my cabin.

Man what an awsome cabin. Im building one similar to yours. mines only 12x24 that is sitting on a floor 16x32. the extra is going to be the deck. I'm building the same style roof as yours, mine however will not have an interior wall to support the roof. I going to build the front wall all out of 10 foot lumber and the back wall at 8 feet. what did you use for rafters? Keep the pic's come the cabin looks awsome and the view is breathtaking!!!!

quoddy camper, thank you for the kind words....
Do you have any pictures of your cabin?

Just got back from a great productive weekend, went up with my wife, daughter, big sister and our dog, Daisy. Have now added a new addition to the family, a little dog from a neighboring farm named Snacks.
Saw a young grizzly on the way up....along with the regular deer...

Finished up the exterior siding on 3 of the 4 walls. Almost finished the shakes on one of the end gables and completed the metal roofing over the front deck.
Will be heading back up in 2 weeks to finish the exterior siding and shingles and will soon be able to start on the inside.

Well just got home from the cabin for a great Fathers day weekend, I decided to concentrate on the inside of the cabin (as we hope to be in it by mid july) It went great....the T&G Pine boards, about 60% done in the living room and kitchen. I also mounted the base cabinets in the kitchen. Its really starting to come together!! I cant wait to go back up in two weeks for 10 days!!

I did not notch my rafters, I used earthquake straps and rafter braces. I went this route because I didnt like the idea of notching as it would weekin them to much.

Your place is looking good. I knew you had a stream close by. The picture behind the four wheeler looks like it is moving pretty fast. Ever considered a small hydro unit for power?
