Outhouse #2 for me...located in the same state but very different settings. See Aug. 2011 for the "swamp" version.

Hey thanks for the share CabinBuilder, i was actually just about to post that pic haha.
So i guess i will post a picture of the inside. I could only dig down about 3 feet, so this barrel sticks out quite a bit, The 5 gallon bucket fits snug into the whole cut in the lid. And is removable for cleaning. Makes a very nice, sealed and bug free outhouse. Barely any smell as well. Iphone_097.jpg

Here's a picture of the current outhouse at my cabin. Obviously it's gonna need replacing. That's my first job in the spring. Sorry - I need to make the JPG smaller.

OK - hope it's small enough this time - the current outhouse - pretty rustic huh?

new paint job done by yours truly with the help of Gary O. i was cutting out stencils and gonna turn them on the other side to make new patterns. Gary O tried to tell me to just make random markings on the outhouse for camo. so we ended up working together but actually i painted the outhouse a green he hated.so he baited me by saying want to paint it camo? he knew i would be in...haa haa haa. so come to find out.he says we need more black.i say its fine as is but now i know the secret to his whole idea...to cover up that green .haa haa haa. he saw me coming. between us both i think it turned out good.

Just about done with the outhouse,
Oh that bugs me how the darn photos come out sideways like that.
Cabinbuilder can you turn the photos 90o? They were downloaded straight from an iPhone, don't know why they turn that way. Thanks.
Inside is a flush toilet, sink and 32" square shower stall. I planned to use an Eccotemp L7 for hot water, and hooked it up, but it refused to work. Not enough water pressure. The instructions say minimum 25 lbs pressure, but from my water tank I only get probably 15 or a bit more. I knew this going into it but hoped it would work. No way. The Eccotemp comes on and heats water then reliably shuts off when it detects low water pressure. I suppose I could try to monkey with the controls but I don't think I'll bother. I'll just sell it as is and use my Coleman water heater for showers.
Still need to put a metal skirt around the bottom but aside from that it's nearly done. Place will be more inviting to visitors with running water facilities. I've had a septic on the place for 3 years now but no way to use it other than to pour stuff into the cleanout. Ritz Carlton

Mtnmandan,
Love the "innards" of the design, with decor. Question- Is the outhouse attached to the support blocks, or does gravity keep it in place? I'm in a sometimes-windy area don't know if I need to anchor such a structure.
Bldginsp,
Looks like yours is anchored? Very classy exterior design, could pass for "Sitz-Carlton"?

Hello SE Ohio! As of now it is pure gravity...My lower area of property where all structures stand are in a dense old growth Engelmann Spruce and Subalpine Fir forest. Despite county wind load of 140, my area in the valley gets very little wind. "Just a Breeze" (Our Property Motto) is pretty much all we get. My "outhouse" and "outdoor shower" are tucked in a protected area in the trees. Even during winter time the average 100-150 ft. trees give cover (Lot's of snow though). Hence the corrugated fiberglass panel as a test just laying on top of roof (it is still there today). But...sometime in the near future I will anchor it down with mobile home ties or similar methods. I start our Mr. Buddy Heater in the morning for Momma and 15 minutes later it is a sauna! I am not going to take the risk of it not being warm for her..... Eventually I will post pictures of the portable "No.1 Only" outhouse she uses in warmer weather.

Hi SE Ohio- thanks for the compliment. Yes it is anchored with precast piers that have straps in them. The piers are set in concrete that is 18" deep and the straps are nailed to the subfloor framing. I'm in seismic country so it's the best idea and not hard to do. I hope I don't get sued by Ritz Carlton for using their name in vain.

Quoting: AK Seabee Off topic Adak but when were you on the rock? Arrived July 76 as an EA3 and left Nov 78 as an EA2. Worked at Naval Station Public Works. Loved the place, such raw weather and beautiful scenery. What a great place for families! Made friends there who are still our friends.
