My son Jacob and son in law Garland. Could not have gotten all the trusses built and up without their help!

Had all trusses built and up in two long days!

I'm having the metal roof installed this week. So far this is the only thing I have not done. But I think its worth paying so it can be done and then I can work on getting it dried in asap!

I am terrible jealous, Sonny.

Can't wait to get started on our place.

I can't remember...did you drill a well up there? If you don't mind, how much did it run you?

Called yesterday about having permit for septic. Jodi really wants one asap! Health dept tells me the cost is $300 for the permit from them and then $250 for a level 3 soil test and then I can go to the county and get a permit from them to have the work done.

Took last weekend off from working on the cabin. It was so nice had to go out and take a pontoon ride!

I love living on the lake and now I have a cabin in the mountains!

Life is good!!

SonnyB,

Tell me about your trusses. I think I saw another build on here with them doubled like that but I don't think it's very common. I want to go with a 12/12 and yours look interesting. I saw some scissor trusses that might work too though not as much head room as yours.

Thanks

I saw them on this site first. Then I went to www.countryplans.com site and they have plans there you can order or just look at others built on their site. It was easier to do the double 2x6 than a 2x12 rafter. Three of us built and install them all in about one and half days.

I like it because I have a little over 10 from the loft floor to the ceiling.

Hope this helped.

Jodi and I put up a few sheets of OSB in the gables this last weekend. Thats all we could get done for now because my ladder would not reach to the top of the gable.

Need a 32' ladder!

Bought the 2x6 t&g flooring for one side of the lofts! Worked Sat.- Wed last week and got alot done.

Then Sunday took a pontoon ride and went to breakfest at Martians Marina on Jackson Lake. Weather was cold 33 degrees but the lake was nice!

Nice cabin! It is about the same size as the one I am building, except yours is taller ;)

I am going to buy one of those Polaris' some day...but the 11-12k price is a little more than my wife will let me spend till the cabin is paid off :p

My toy was my present to myself for my 50th birthday! Wife is ok with it because I sold some of the 4 wheels since the kids have grown up and moved out. Plus I can haul all the grand kids around in the back seat!

Looks a bit precarious after studying the hillside pictures. Probably just the angle of the photo. I hope to use 6 x 6 beams on concrete piers, then rims and joists on top of the beams. Building inspector specified piers.

It is steep on the back side. Its about 8' from the ground to the bottom of the floor joist and only 2' on the front wall so thats 6' drop in 20'. I used 6x6 on the back wall at 5'5" and the front wall and middle is 4x4 placed 4' oc.

Hope to go up this weekend but now its supose to rain. I need to do outside work so I will just have to wait and see.
