That fire pic is scary! I'm not used to seeing anything like that being we are in PA/NY.
Already closing up shop for the winter? When does winter start for you?

Thanks gcrank, its a labor of love. Its been a lot of work, but I have enjoyed every bit of it.
And other question, I am done there for the season, we are at 3400 feet in elevation, snow flies in late October and November, melts off but in December, sticks around and after that, dont see the dirt till latter part of march. I have seen snow at my place as late as April.
But I could certainly go there for a few more months if I wanted too.

Yessir! Unfortunately, out west here, wildfires have become more common since the 90s. More common and larger. It used to be unusual for a wildfire to reach a size of 5 to 6,000 acres. In recent years if a fire breaks early containment and grows to 1000 acres it will likely hit 12 to 15,000 acres or more.

That fire in question was the Sinlahekin fire, its all pretty much stopped now, very few heat sources left. It was 166K acres, second largest fire in the state this summer, number 1 was the little giant fire at 170K acres.
If they are in the open prairie, moves fast in the grasses and sage, timber it slows it way down unless it goes to the crown.
