This picture is my first attempt at posting and there are lots of pictures of what or where I 'm presently at. I'm only days away for heading up to the cabin to hope get it dried in but first I would like to catch up on my post or thread. I started digging a few years ago in West Virginia sinking 6 x 6 PT post every 6' in a grid shape measuring 18' x 24'. I'm going to try to locate some pictures in order so please give me a moment...

As I mention I started digging and sinking post because all I was doing was talking about it. So I dug and that is my beginning of this cabin.

Pretty unusual dimensions wouldn't you say but it works for me I suppose. I'm getting ready to put it under roof soon with a 9 1/2 /12 pitch so there is room for a loft on one side. I plan on 1 bedroom and bath with the rest open for living and kitchen. Whats your plans ? I'll be posting more pic's soon

Sort of skip this part but I have lots of pics digging and installing my burial electric service if anybody is interested. I'm glad I decided to go underground though ! Eventually my front porch will sort of weather and hide this service entrance

Its my families old home stead and most buildings will be gone eventually accept for some things I will save till then. Sort of like my own hardware store in help of my hunting camp as well as possibly my retirement retreat. The camper behind my future cabin is where I stay while this is being built.

The 18 x 24 is unusual indeed. In designing our cabin we focussed on two bedrooms, a bathroom and making it as small as possible for heating.

I think the size fits us perfectly when we have a large group. If I had it to do over again the only change would be the location of the front door.

I will sketch a quick layout tonight for you to look at.

Here is a rough sketch. The only thing I would do different is to move the kitchen door from the north end of the structure to between the kitchen and living room. It would allow additional space for a refrigerator / cabinet combo.

The roof is under my cabin and looks like that will be the first thing this fall to conquer. Please look at my progress and possibly comment if you would I appreciate any feed back good or bad....

Already thinkin about being back at the cabin to get my metal roof up and finish sealing up the eaves and gable ends. I'll be ready to start insulating at least the bath room area so I can get a hot shower installed. two windows for the front to start but I seem to be stuck on insulation issue use roll insulation with a face or no face. Any comments on what to use on the walls 2x 4 studs on 16" center

Northwest between Clarksburg and Parkersburg I'm Doddridge County. I past thru Virginia on a regular basis in route to my place at least a couple of times a year.
