Lol dillio! I haven't minded the weather. Another 100% chance of "stuff" tomorrow! I think your attitude is right-going rain or shine! On the bright side, with the ground still frozen, at least you should be able to get down your driveway. Right?

What will you be working on?

I have a pile of stuff to do. Drywall work, tree cutting, come up with a plan for railings in the loft and stairs, tidy up my stereo installation, and probably put a good dent in a bottle of Captain Morgain private stock

Dillio, just checking up on your progress. I see you doing great and having fun.
Does that stereo have a reverb? Maybe your not old enough to remember those.

Don't you love how there is so much to do that the variety is always there? It's kinda like, hmmmm...what am I in the mood to work on? Sometimes we think we will do one project but then when we get there we decide we are in the mood to do something else. It's so much fun to get away to the cabin, even working is fun! Strange, but true It's not like that at home.

haha, no reverb, just a newer'ish Sony car cd deck.

and yea, it's funny how your mood changes once you arrive at the cabin. If it's decently nice outside, I might decide to spend more time outside. If this crappy storm hits is bad, I'll probably stick to the indoors stuff!

For some unknown reason, my significant other and myself are going to the Twins game tonight. So yea, if you see the idiots sitting at Target field wearing snowmobile suits during a snow storm, that would be us!

Have you thawed and dried out yet? Lol! Was thinking about you sitting there as I listened to the rain on the roof!!!! Did you hear anybody lamenting the days of the dome??????????

Looks like you will be enjoying indoor projects at the cabin-after you shovel snow, that is! 6-10 inches coming! Oh, how I wish I could be at our cabin this weekend! Boo!

Enjoy!

they actually cancelled the game!

I am refusing to shovel or snow blow this snow. It can sit there until it melts on it's own, I'm done with winter!

well, it's been a rainy summer. Every time I go up there, it seems to rain. I was finally able to get 4 hours of dry time to build the base/frame for the porch. The drywall has been mudded, sanded, and primed, and as of tomorrow, it will be painted!

I have some more pictures at home I will post up when I remember to. As you can see in the photo, it even rained on me as I was finishing up. I don't want to hear anything about a drought any more this year! It always get so humid there when it rains, and then the sun comes out. You can see the little 5000btu AC in the upstairs window running from the EU1000i.

And hopefully for Labor Day, it will have a functional fridge courtesy of wakeslayer. It sure will beat filling up coolers with ice all the time!

big time. I forgot to mention we found a small lake nearby that has a public water access, time to get a little fishing boat! I was standing on the dock, slapping deer flies off my legs, and feeding them to the sunnies down below!

Nice! We have a boat you can buy! It's more like a little bathtub....lol. Too little for us to use with the kids.

The deer flies are more annoying than the skeeters sometimes and their bite is more annoying by far!!! I bet the sunnies were happy!

Saw you are looking for tractor help with your driveway. we have a tractor but no trailor...we could swap tractor work for your solar set-up knowledge

what kind of trailer would be needed to move the tractor? I suppose I should go browse your thread and I'd probably answer my own question!

I'd be happy to help you guys out with anything solar you need, as you can probably tell it's a bit of a passion of mine!

I asked my husband....5 ton trailer. When we bought the tractor we rented a trailer to haul it up to the cabin...my son pulled it wth his diesel pick up truck. Where exactly is your place? Trying to determine how far it is from our place. You said Pine co correct?

I don't know when we will get around to investing and installing the solar, but definitely I know to pick your brain about it

I hope you had a great weekend.

my cabin is east of Sandstone, north of Danbury. Not all that far from Wisconsin actually.

My half ton truck wouldn't pull it by the sounds of it. I do have a friend with a 1 ton Duramax though, he pulled the skid steer the last time. There is a rental place in Sandstone that has a heavy duty trailer, or maybe I could find one around here too. I'll do some lookin...

We did have a good weekend despite some vehicle issues. The drivers side cat on my truck took a dump while headed down 35, ended up having to take highway 61 home due to only being able to maintain about 60 mph.

We painted and spent most of the weekend outside, it was so nice and quite un-August like!

hi!
I know my sons truck is heavy duty. You would want more than the standard pick up truck....oh, and sorry you had vehicle problems on the drive home...that's always fun! NOT!!!!

Your paint looks great! Very warm and cozy for a Minnesota cabin in the woods! It really brings out the warmth of your wood floors.

Weather has been super for August! I'm loving the low humidity

I'm not complaining about this weather at all, it's very September like. Hopefully it continues right on through September into October, it would really help for getting all the outdoor stuff done!

Looking good there Dillio. You've got a lot done this year.

Did you get your road problem fixed? Your soil looks similar to mine. All I'll say is google "geotextile road fabric". Maine has a real good pdf on camp roads also.

I've been getting along on all my fall chores. Why is it the looming scent of "insert four letter word" galvanizes us so?

no real progress on the road, other than mother nature has helped some by growing lots of native grasses all over it, which has firmed it up. One of my 'to-dos' is to at least smooth it all back out so the water runs off of it instead of making puddles.

I hear you on that four letter "S" word. Not really looking forward to it. I did make my big purchase last week, I bought a 2009 Polaris Rzr 800 with a winch, plow, windshield, and an add on roll cage that holds a spare tire. I shouldn't have any issues getting that 4 letter word off my driveways this winter.

I did some knotty pine window work too. It turned out pretty nice!

I can't wait!

On another note, I had a solar panel fail sometime this summer, I noticed my batteries weren't charging at nearly the rate they used to. Using my multimeter I tracked down which one it was, took the panel down, and brought it home. I took the access cover off the panel and found this. At least it was an easy fix!
