Your cabin is going to be absolutely beautiful. I love your door! I saw some of them in a log home magazine which had hand carved "running deer, "turkeys", etc. I'm sure you have seen them. I know they are big $$$$$...but unbelievably beautiful.

Our cabin, due to its location, is uninsurable because (1) no one lives nearby, (2) we don't live in it (3) it has a wood-burner and finally (4) a firetruck or emergency vehicle couldn't get to it unless it was an ATV. Therefore....I am not so inclined to put a lot of money in it.

It will be "cute" when it's done but most importantly, the grandkids and our children will be able to make a lot of good memories there.

I am waiting to see some outside pics of your cabin once you get the siding done. We still have to put the batten-boards on the outside, put the windows in the front and rear loft (they're framed in) and then paint it that brown shade that resembles State Park Brown.

Keep in touch and good luck with your work.

been busy at camp----took 3 days from 8am or so till dark to enclose the overhang---used exterior plywood for eves, installed a soffit vent---and used inch thick CYPRESS boards for the facial board---coated everything with a good coat thompson waterseal in clear---- going to order my Log siding soon---it will come from Maine--white pine---plan to install it in Jan and Feb.

i am done for this year on the camp---Holidays and family time now----
I will start back on it NEXT YEAR---- Jan 2 2012----!!!!!!!!:-)

 Your cabin is very nice!
I am currently looking to start a similar project for me and my wife.

What are the dimensions of your cabin?
Did you have any plans to build from or did you just stick build/plan as you went along?

 Very nice cabin and thanks!

 TH,
It doesn't matter if napkin or sack. Point is - you did it and it's great. However, I would be forever happy with your old camp!

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question sir, I really appreciate it and again I really admire the work you did on your cabin.

I am currently offshore on a drillship in the gulf of mexico for 21 days, during my time spent here instead of working I am cabin planning lol. I plan to start my project once I come home on Jan 24th. and trying to get all of my ducks in row with how I am going to start.

I do have two more questions for you sir if you dont mind... is that maybe a 2x4 that is under your 2x12 sill beams? And I noticed in your photos across the 30' span that you added what looks to be 4x4 supports. Were you experiecing some sag, etc?

Thank you again for your replies.

 Respectfully,

 Ray
