Turkey hunter Hello New to this site which is awesome.Really liked your cabin,looks great.Was wondering about your foundation?We live in Maine and have cleared our lot and hope to get going in spring/summer your cabin is just we had in mind,only not sure about piers or cement pads then block up.Any advice?

Well....welcome to the forum!!!! You brought my old cabin build thread out of retirement LOL
BTW~~I spend the summers in Maine
Thanks and glad you like my camp!!!
Took a track-hoe and dug footers...about 24" x 24" --and 24 " deep ...filled with cement and had the mason put the block piers in there are double blocked / not just one standing on the other!!! Good luck with your build ---what part of Maine are building in??

THANKS!!!! ..Neb I appreciate it.. I cut 6 huge ~~~10 feet red cedar logs yesterday to have saw milled. I will install the red cedar boards on the wall that goes upstairs to the half loft which will go well with my 3 red cedar beams in the ceiling!!! And knotty pine will be on the other 3 walls of the den/kitchen area....got a 10 foot by 30 feet deck going on in the spring!!!
So maybe some updated pic's this SPRING!!!

Just spent my lunch going over your post and everything looks great. I have a question about how you close in your ends of your rafters or bat boards. Did you close in between your 2x 8 rafters. Mine are wide open now and I have been pondering how I was going to close them in. I have only a 6 " over hang if you know what I mean. Be interested to see some close ups how you did yours. I would appreciate any feed back if you check out my W V cabin you will see what I mean. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing !
